Consolidated Cases Cook County Consolidated Asbestos Litigation(1999) Cooney and Conway attorneys represented a group of plaintiffs whose cases settled simultaneously without trial. The settlement totaled more than $200 million and is the largest personal injury settlement in Illinois history. The plaintiffs in this group included construction trade workers, shipyard workers and the family members exposed to asbestos dust brought home on the clothing of those occupationally exposed. The diseases included mesothelioma , lung cancer, asbestosis, and colon cancer. Cook County Consolidated Asbestos Litigation(1997) Cooney and Conway attorneys, John Cooney, William Fahey, Jim Hopkinson, Kathy Byrne and Mike Mulvihill represented a group of plaintiffs in a large consolidated trial of construction trade workers who developed a variety of asbestos-related diseases including mesothelioma , lung cancer, asbestosis, and colon cancer. Legal and evidentiary rulings were made by a single judge, and then the cases were sent in smaller groups to separate courtrooms. The trials were held in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois. During the trial, the cases settled in excess of over $65.5 million. In Re-consolidated Mesothelioma Cases (1996) Attorney Kevin Conway represented 6 plaintiffs in a consolidated trial of insulators in the Cook County Circuit Court. All plaintiffs suffered with mesothelioma . The case settled during trial in excess of $7.5 million.
