Asbestos is a naturally occurring, fibrous mineral which was widely used in a variety of products beginning in the late nineteenth century. Exposure to asbestos has occurred in occupations such as construction, shipyards, railroads, insulation, sheet metal, automobile repair, and other related fields. Asbestos continues to be used today in various products.
When asbestos fibers are released into the air the fibers are inhaled by workers and remain in the lungs where they can cause disease. The evidence shows that many companies that manufactured and/or sold asbestos containing products knew that their products injure people. Many actively conspired to hide this information to keep selling their products. As a result they are now being held liable for the diseases caused by these dangerous products.
